A lazily plonked shot of the Seiko Izul SDAA001 at the seaside 🌊🇯🇵

I have been more or less absent for a week, due to a longer business trip, including the weekend. While it took place at a lovely seaside resort, unfortunately no time for swimming. But couldn’t go without a harbinger of summer shot of the Izul. And now l

The Seiko SDAA001 Izul getting ready for the weekend ⏱️🇯🇵

Given that the coming days will be at the seaside a road strap was apropos 😉 The 51mm might appear large on paper but at the same time the curved case back and titanium make it very pleasant on the wrist. I know there is one other Izul here so I won’t ask

Go big - Seiko Izul SDAA001 at 51mm 🦾🇯🇵 What are some of your large ones?

Been some time since I posted this one but it’s surprisingly wearable even on my chicken wrist, in spite of its 51mm. The lug free design, curved case back and titanium for lighter weight all help in making it wear smaller. And I guess the fully articulat

The Ming 18.01 H41 - my main skiing watch ❄️🎿🤿

While my deep dives tend to happen in the office, far away from water, the number of dive watches in our household is also quite limited. They do double as quite competent skiing watches, where they see more frequent use. The Ming 18.01 H41 - their first

Someone was asking about white straps past summer - so here a Seiko Izul SDAA001 on a white toad ⚪️🇯🇵

It is not exactly an office watch at 51mm but I felt it was worth demonstrating the principle, if only for the one shot 😁 So I might be one of the few proponents of white straps the whole year around, and in winter they make for a wonderful blending into

I find white quite interesting in winter, too ❄️

I only have a handful of white (or off white) straps and wear them in winter, too. But you might be a bit wary of following my strap advice 😂😂😂 And the white and purple is a great combo with the watch / dial 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Seiko Izul SDAA001 on a white toad strap

I appreciate your shared enthusiasm for IZULs,KMII... 🙏

and for understanding the syndrome 😀 Yes, when I spoke to one of Seiko's reps about the end of sales way back when, he said: "It's being done to protect the watch line. Your IZUL (referring to the SDAA001 on my wrist) will be becoming a rare and special p

Thanks for the write up and for providing some additional details 😊👍🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Did not know that Seiko actively pulled them from the shelves but that would of course explain why they are so hard to find nowadays - the quantities remaining must be relatively low. Have had the pleasure of seeing the SDAA005 once and it really is nice.

Some photos and an intro to the non-rotating IZUL Chronograph

Seiko introduced the IZUL line in 2007 with a “dawn-to-a-new-era” sort of ad copy (Izul derives from a Japanese word associated with the rising sun), slotting it in as a new premium sports line to complement the dressier models from Grand Seiko and Credor

A shot of Izul - the Seiko SDAA001 in its 51mm glory 🦾🇯🇵

While much of my wrist time is given to watches of 40mm and under, occasionally a larger beast makes it, too - and I have none larger than the 51mm Izul (although it somehow wears smaller than a JLC Master Compressor Memovox). The titanium case, curved ca
